Fresh Summer Nutrition

Summer Foods!

Summer is just SO invigorating! Living in South Dakota means that we have winter forever, and I am not a winter person at all! 🙂 It’s gardening time and I’m loving every minute in the garden! I end up with so much produce that I don’t know what to do with. I can most of it and love love love home-canned tomatoes in the dead of winter. The part that I’m working on is using fresh produce in healthy recipes during the season.

I’m starting a new journey and re-learning how to portion out the foods on my plate and keep my energy. I’m susceptible to coffee and a cookie. I’m always up for coffee and a sweet:(  In fact, I started keeping track of my foods and wow, was that an eye opener. I mean I start every day with a super smoothie and a cup of berries. But when the day gets going, I can’t be found without my coffee and yes, a sweet to accompany it. Maybe I don’t need to “lose weight” but I am interested in brain health, preventing a stroke, heart health and keeping my energy up. Can you relate?

planting tomatoes

Can you believe I’m 45? Apparently, me neither! Why do we plant so much?!?! 🙂

Have you heard of the 21 Day Fix? Chances are, you have:) It’s a great program, but I’m the kind of person who does better when I know WHY I’m eating a certain way. For instance, for breakfast nearly half of the breakfast should be protein to KEEP YOU FULL! Ah-ha! Simply knowing that helps me really aim for half of my breakfast being protein.

I’d like you to join me on this journey. Join me on facebook to learn more. If you’re curious, but not ready, just like my page and see what’s going on:) Regardless of where we are in life, whether you live on a farm or in the city, whether you’re financially set or you’re struggling, there are steps we can take to be healthy. I’d like to help you on the steps. After all, it’s the little choices we make that add up:)

Be well always,

Kia
